Tasting Notes
Decanter – 95
Based on the 2011 vintage, sourced 60% from Hautvilliers, Aÿ, and Dizy, and 40% from Avize and Oiry. The 739 DT cuvée possesses a complex, elegant and fresh nose with apricot, pastry, smoke, oak, walnuts, honey and white fruits aromas. With 96 months on lees, the palate has a creamy texture and a profound structure, with both terrific and vibrant balance. An elegantly fleshy and precise core with an underlying chalky texture gives a calcareous finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2025
John Gilman – 93
The Jacquesson “Cuvée 739 Dégorgement Tardif” is from the base year of 2011 and spent fully eight years aging sur latte prior to its disgorgement in June of 2020. It was also finished with a tiny dosage of .75 grams per liter. The wine now offers up a beautifully complex bouquet of apple, fresh-baked bread, sweet nutskin, plenty of smokiness, a complex base of chalky soil tones and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, excellent soil undertow, refined mousse and a long, beautifully balanced and wide open finish. The extra time spent in the Jacquesson cellars in Dizy aging on the fine lees has allowed this wine to really relax structurally, so that the wine is drinking with generosity and beautiful complexity.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2045
JancisRobinson.com – 17
Really lacy and complex with lots of development and reassurance on the palate. Easier to love than the 744 with its extra age. Really beautifully balanced and clean as a whistle. Bone-dry finish after a panoply of fruit and much else.
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030

The NV Cuvée No. 739 Disgorgement Tardif, the 2011 edition in its second release, is a fine effort for a year that was so challenging for Champagne. Orange peel, dried flowers, hazelnut, licorice and spice are all signatures of a Champagne that is at a first plateau of maturity. I would not push my luck on aging. In 2011, Jacquesson did not bottle any lieu-dits. All the best fruit went into the 739. The blend is 57% Chardonnay, 21% Pinot Noir and 22% Pinot Meunier, with 31% reserve wines. Disgorged: June, 2020.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2025
