Tasting Notes
Jasper Morris – 90-93
Planted in white in 1979 and 1989. Pale primrose, the bouquet is just beginning to show. Plenty of energy here, a freshness at the finish but also considerable weight from the deep clay soil. Works pretty well across the palate.
Vinous – 92
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru has a finely detailed and quite mineral-driven bouquet that gains intensity in the glass. Quite Puligny in style. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a dab of sour lemon on the finish. Enjoy this over the next 12 to 15 years.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2038
Burghound – 91
(Outstanding) A deft touch of wood sets off the cool and pretty aromas of white flowers, pear and citrus zest, along with a hint of rosemary oil. There is once again very good punch to the delicious and attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that also exude a refreshing salinity on the lingering and balanced finale. This isn’t especially refined though it stops short of rusticity and overall, this too is worthy of consideration.
