Tasting Notes
Jasper Morris – 90-92
The blend is made up from Pré de la Folie, Chalandins, Croix Blanches and bit of La Colombière share-cropped by Pascal Mugneret. More black than purple in colour, and at first I am not getting much in the way of aromatics. The fruit is predominantly black but redder notes arrive at the back, and the fruit is in perfect harmony on the palate. The tannins are fine and acidity present but well integrated. Persistent. 14% but balanced
Burghound – 89-92
This is also exuberantly spicy with its array of poached plum, black raspberry and violet-scented nose. The succulent and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate density while delivering impressive length on the mouth coating, dusty and slightly raspy finale. This isn’t elegant but it is an unusually powerful Vosne villages and worth a look provided that you expressly intend to cellar it as it’s not likely to make for especially interesting early drinking.
