Tasting Notes
Decanter – 93
The parcel that Céline Fontaine farms in Cailleret is located in ‘Vigne Derrière’, and stretches from the bottom of Cailleret to the top. She feels it has an aroma reminiscent of pine tree sap. I’d describe it as a slight menthol cast to bright, lovely citrus fruit and a firm mineral underpinning. The wine is lush and rich on the palate, but there is a firm acidity that drives this wine to a very dynamic finish.
Burghound – 93
A ripe and equally pure nose reflects notes of petrol and a vaguely exotic nuance of passion fruit, lychee and dried apricot. The delicious medium-bodied flavors possess impressively good density and a fine bead of minerality that adds a sense of lift to the firm, compact, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This too is really very good.
