Tasting Notes
Decanter – 95
Claire Naudin (wife of Jean-Yves Bizot) is at the head of this exciting domaine based in the Hautes-Côtes. Her team farms 0.34ha of vines in Rouges de Bas. The grapes are picked in the morning and fermented mostly as whole clusters on native yeasts with a very gentle extraction before ageing in cask. The result is a forward cassis fruit of great elegance and finesse, yet there is admirable density on the palate, a mineral substance and an immediate appeal. This wine should drink young but will age superbly.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2050
Jasper Morris – 93-96
Rich deep purple. the fruit is very ripe, perhaps a hair too ripe, but absolutely not cooked. Really long on the palate, the nuances are a little bit hidden but layers on the palate suggest they are there. A lovely mix of red and black and the tannins are just right.
