Tasting Notes
Jasper Morris – 92-94
Fresh dark purple, a mild reduction, a wine of elegance and charm on the palate with a surprisingly peppery finish. Almost exotic Asian spices. The fruit itself spreads beautifully across the palate, a mix of red and black.
Vinous – 90-92
The 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru showed just a little reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit laced with brown spices and orange rind. There is just a little chewiness on the finish, yet there is satisfying length and a pleasant cracked black pepper aftertaste.
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2042
Burghound – 91-93
(Outstanding) A fresh and relatively expressive nose features various red berry, earth and game wisps. There is excellent volume and focus to the overtly powerful larger-scaled flavors that evidence plenty of muscle on the markedly austere, serious and built-to-age finale. This fine effort will not be a candidate for early drinking.
