Tasting Notes
Jasper Morris – 92-94
Bright fresh crimson purple. The nose is quite exciting here, heady, ripe cherries, yet not unbalanced. A little oaky sandalwood behind, a sweetness to the fruit, not an elegant Chambolle in particular, but with substance and length.
Vinous – 92-94
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Noirots 1er Cru offers brambly red fruit, tea leaves and light floral scents on the nose. I like the definition and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, sorbet-like opening, veins of orange peel and tangerine through the red fruit with an almost Grenache like, sensual finish. Give this some time in bottle because this is a lovely Chambolle.
Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040
Burghound – 91-94
(Outstanding) Here the expressive nose is even fresher with its essence of ripe cherry coulis, spice and violet. The medium weight flavors are not quite as dense, but they are, somewhat surprisingly, even finer while offering evident minerality on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that delivers excellent length.
