Tasting Notes
Vinous – 93
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Charmes 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with raspberry, wild strawberry, rose petal and potpourri scents that all gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, fine grip and muscle with a Morey-like structure on the finish. This will require 3-4 years in bottle, though on this showing it will evolve into a very fine, quite long-lived Charmes.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2040
Jasper Morris – 92-94
Excellent glowing purple, with a liveliness that continues on to the palate, with a sweet ripe raspberry note and enough acidity behind. This is still in the domaine’s refined and unobtrusive style, but with very good length.
Burghound – 90-93
A highly perfumed and vaguely exotic nose offers up notes of red berries, lavender, rose petal and a hint of cinnamon. The super-sleek, intense and more concentrated flavors exude a refreshing salinity on the balanced, long and more complex finale. Lovely.
