Tasting Notes
Robert Parker – 90
The 2018 Pommard Auprès du Clos is showing very nicely, wafting from the glass with scents of peonies, wild berries, cinnamon and orange rind—bearing the strong stamp of whole-cluster fermentation. Medium to full-bodied, layered and supple, it’s a succulent, perfumed wine with lively acids and melting tannins.
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035
Vinous – 91
The 2018 Pommard Auprès du Clos, which is a “fantasy name” rather than a lieu-dit, underwent two pressings à pieds. The nose offers ripe raspberry, wild strawberry, pressed rose petals and a slight confit-like scent that develops with time. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely, bright cranberry and raspberry fruit, hints of dark chocolate and a precise, slightly ferrous finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2033
