Jasper Morris – 92
A lighter colour than most, with a gentle, lightly stem laden nose, that becomes more florally perfumed as it breathes. There is a little bitterness in its youth along with some dark chocolate notes alongside the fresh red fruit. Good length. Sound rather than enthralling. Drink from 2030.
Burghound – 90-93
This possesses the most floral-suffused nose with its notes of violet and lavender that add a touch of elegance to the plum, earth and dark currant aromas that are trimmed in subtle but not invisible oak. There is an attractive vivacity and texture to the bigger-bodied flavors that are rich but reasonably well-detailed, all wrapped in a sneaky long finish where the wood telegraphed by the nose resurfaces.
