Tasting Notes
Jasper Morris – 92-96
Just a little bit fuller in colour and richer on the nose. This underwent a long slow fermentation and it has not yet found its place. There is a wealth of yellow plum fruit on the palate then a softer finish with a little more oak. The acidity by analysis is the same as for the Caillerets but is hidden under this weight of fruit. My score may be conservative here.
Burghound – 91-93
(Outstanding) Here the expressive nose is relatively similar to the Caillerets though it’s a bit less obviously exotic in character. The succulent, even juicy, and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors also flash very good power on the beautifully well-balanced finale. This mouth coating beauty is quite firm so plan on cellaring it for at least a few years first.
