Tasting Notes
Jasper Morris – 92
Pure clean mid purple, while the nose shows fresh raspberry overlaid with a light veneer of vanilla oak. Clean, compact, energetic, red fruit intensity, good acidity, and a little oak to finish.
Vinous – 91
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin "Capita" debuted in 2003 and contains 100% whole bunch fruit. It has a tightly wound, quite floral bouquet with more red fruit than the "Ostrea", hints of raspberry preserve and wild strawberry joining the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, taut and linear, a dash of white pepper cropping up towards the tightly wound finish that suggests cellaring for up to five years will be in order.

John Gilman – 93
As I mentioned above, this bottling is composed of a blend of Combottes, Ergots and Corbeaux and the wine is exceptional in 2017. The aromatic constellation delivers a blend of red cherries, cassis, dark berries, grilled meats, black minerality, raw cocoa, mustard seed and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and pure on the attack, with an excellent core of fruit, lovely mineral drive and a very long, vibrant and complex finish of fine-grained tannins and excellent precision. Just outstanding.
