Tasting Notes
Decanter – 97
This excellent Premeaux-based family domaine is not as famous as it should be. The Meuniers’ old-vine parcel of 0.5ha is one of the very best Vosne grand cru bottlings in 2017. Serious, spicy and intense, this comes from vines that were originally planted by Charles Noëllat in the 1940s. It’s savoury, focussed and beautifully weighted, with a winning combination of freshness and oceanic depth. A superb wine.
Burghound – 93
A beautifully spicy nose exhibits aromas of plum, dark cherry, sandalwood and a hint of Asian-style tea along with background notes of menthol and wood. The beautifully textured middle weight flavors possess a super-sleek, indeed even lacy, texture as well as a refreshing salinity, all wrapped in a well-detailed, refined and focused finale. This should age well over the medium term yet be approachable after only 5 to 7 years.
