Tasting Notes
Robert Parker – 92
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Combottes offers up an appealing bouquet of sweet red berries, cassis, plums and warm spices. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, satiny and expressive, with a fleshy—almost chunky—core of fruit, tangy acids and fine, chalky tannins. This is one of the more broad-shouldered wines in the Barthod cellar this year.
Vinous – 91
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Aux Combottes has a fragrant, mineral-driven bouquet that is extremely well defined, hints of orange blossom infusing the red cherry and strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with candied orange peel on the entry and a little grainy in texture. A bit of hardness toward the finish should soften by the time of bottling. Fine.
