Burghound – 91
Outstanding – A discreet application of wood sets off the notes of herbal tea, red currant and a lovely range of spice elements. The sleek, delicious and more refined flavors possess a bit more volume as well as more evident minerality on the dusty and bitter cherry pit-inflected finale. This is quite elegant but even so a wine that will need at least some patience as it’s presently pretty tightly wound. (Drink starting 2027)
Vinous – 91-93
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru, which is 100% whole bunches, has a succinct bouquet of mineral-rich blackberry and raspberry fruit. This is already very expressive. The palate is well balanced, the whole bunch working nicely; the fruit is tight at the moment, but I feel that might be down to the low pressure system that settled over Chambolle during my visit and subdued some of the cuvées. It still demonstrates fine delineation on the finish, and I expect a fine Chambolle.
