Tasting Notes
Vinous – 92
Deep ruby-red. Deep nose of red and black cherry, blueberry, minerals and flint. Rich and chewy, showing real density to the dark red fruit, mineral and herbal flavours. This big, brooding wine finishes with youthfully chewy but polished tannis. I was surprised to hear it had just been bottled two weeks before my visit at the estate, because it was already tasting beautifully. “Burlenberg” means “burned hill”, and it’s a more than apt name given the smoky note the wine exudes in spades. Cellar this beauty for another three years from now and then enjoy.
