Tasting Notes
Vinous – 92-94
Bright red. Wonderfully perfumed aromas of cranberry, raspberry and crushed rock. Enters the mouth with good texture and thickness, then turns very tight and compressed in the middle palate, conveying dynamic energy to its brooding flavors of tart red berries and minerals. This extremely backward wine is dramatically bound-up today, even a bit inscrutable. Barnier noted that it was racked last June but could use another racking soon, not to mention more élevage. He probably won’t bottle this wine until May or June, noting that he will take his time bottling the ’16s.
