Tasting Notes
Vinous – 87-89
(racked; vinified with 60% whole clusters): Healthy medium red. Aromas of raspberry, spices and herbs are accented by a peppery nuance. In a cool, dry, savory style, offering an element of mineral pungency that is not shown by the Nuits-Saint-Georges. Displays good mouth coverage without any impression of weight. The herbal quality repeats on the persistent finish. This and the Nuits villages show limited flesh but this wine is a bit longer.
JancisRobinson.com – 17/20
Mealy nose and very fresh fruit. Good focus and some really charming fruit here before the charge of pronounced tannins kicks in.
Anticipated maturity: 2023-2032
Burghound – 89-91
In contrast to the expressiveness of the Nuits, this is aromatically restrained and somber and only grudgingly reveals its aromas of various dark berries, spice and violet scents. The sleek and impressively intense flavors possess a lacy mid-palate mouthfeel that contrasts moderately with the saline-inflected and mineral-driven finish that is presently on the youthfully austere side. This beauty of a Chambolle villages will need at least a few years of cellaring and should reward up to a decade’s worth.
