Tasting Notes
Vinous – 90
The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru does not deliver the same breeding on the nose as its peers, a little smudged by comparison, although the kirsch and raspberry scents seem pure. The palate is medium-bodied with candied red fruit. Low in acidity compared to its peers, I find the finish rather leaden when I am seeking more tension and poise. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

The average vine age is 40 years, now that they have replanted some. Floral and broad on the nose. Seems relatively light, with charming raspberry fruit but an undertow of strict structure that should keep it going for many a year. Seems light today. Good violet flavours and energy on the end.
