Tasting Notes
Burghound – 93
Spicy black fruit liqueur like aromas are liberally laced with violet, sandalwood, Asian tea and dried rose petal along with generous wood. The opulent, suave and impressively rich large-scaled flavors possess good power and punch on the highly seductive mid-palate before concluding in a mineral-inflected and slightly warm finish. This is suave and opulent to the point of being almost thick and while the density is impressive in its fashion, it would be fair to describe this as well made but stylistically particular. Note that this hedonistic effort should drink well young.
Jasper Morris – 96
A touch lighter in colour but with a really fine, fragrant nose, lifted, perfumed, stylish. While the nose is classy the fruit on the palate is a bit sweet, with some bacon fat notes. Medium long. Actually, with aeration, the class of the vineyard seems to be fighting back against the superficial presence of the winemaking.
