2012 Roche de Bellene, Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru 12x75cl

Vinous – 94-96

(two barrels, from two suppliers): Bright full red. Pungent aromas of urgent crushed red berries, pepper and wild herbs; I would have guessed that this was vinified with at least a portion of whole clusters but in fact it was completely destemmed. Outstanding intensity and lift to the flavors of dark raspberry, spices, licorice and crushed stone. Wonderfully tactile and refined wine with great verve and a magically light touch on the explosive, palate-staining finish. [Stephen Tanzer, 01/01/2014]
