Tasting Notes
Burghound – 91
(Outstanding) It is immediately evident that there is more here with its highly complex, cool and ultra-pure red berry fruit, floral, spice and stone hints. There is excellent delineation to the voluminous and attractively textured medium weight flavors that exude a fine minerality on the saline-infused finish. I very much like the sense of energy on the finish where the supporting tannins are just ripe enough to avoid any youthful asperity. This is one of those wines that you just feel like drinking as it’s so refreshing.
Vinous – 92+
Bright medium red, less dark than the village offering. Perfumed aromas of raspberry, cherry, crushed stone, mace and cardamom. Tightly wound, juicy and penetrating, with superb youthful energy to the flavors of red cherry, raspberry and mineral flavors. The juicy, rising finish features terrific grip and length, leaving the salivary glands vibrating. Really wonderfully intense for a wine that’s barely 12.2% alcohol in bottle (chaptalized from 12%).
