Tasting Notes
Burghound – 93
A judicious soupçon of oak mixes with a highly layered nose of black cherry, cassis, warm earth and an impressive array of spice notes. Like the Boudots, this exhibits a suave and silky mouth feel to the focused, fresh and vibrant flavors that are shaped by unusually fine tannins in the context of a mainstream Ech, all wrapped in a firm but refined finish that delivers excellent persistence. This should amply reward at least a decade of cellar time as I have found that 10 to 12 years for this wine in a fine vintage is just about perfect.
