An intensely earthy, somber and brooding nose of fresh cassis and black raspberry is followed by equally taciturn broad-shouldered flavors that possess forbidding size, weight and intensity as well as outstanding length on the powerful and palate staining finish. This is a classic example and at present, very, very austere and thus will not be for everyone. It’s also clearly for the very patient. [10/01/2012]
