Tasting Notes
Robert Parker – 92
“The 2008 Nuits-Saint-Georges Villages from Domaine Leroy is beginning to drink very well, bursting from the glass with a complex bouquet of cinnamon, blood orange, peony, cassis, blackberry and raw cocoa. On the palate, the wine is sappy, expansive and medium-full, with an ample mid-palate, fine-grained tannins and a penetrating, saline finish-weightless but intense. In this vintage Bize-Leroy opted to combine the Nuits lieux-dits that she usually bottles separately: Aux Allots, Aux Bas de Combe and Lavières.”
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028
Vinous – 89
(a blend of Lalou Bize-Leroy’s village holdings, owing to the small size of the harvest): Good deep red. Redcurrant, black cherry and a whiff of leather on the nose, plus a touch of violet. Juicy and nicely delineated, showing good inner-mouth energy and harmonious acidity. Finishes with firm but ripe tannins.
Burghound – 90
This is also quite fresh but notably earthier with a pretty blend of spiced red currant and blue berry aromas that are followed by detailed and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess a mouth coating and moderately austere finish that is supported by quite firm and mildly rustic tannins.
