Tasting Notes
Vinous – 95
The 2007 Meursault Gouttes d’Or is strikingly beautiful. Sweet layers of perfumed fruit flow gracefully across the palate in this fragrant, silky white. The wine blossoms beautifully through the mid-palate and finish, showing fabulous persistence. All of the elements are in the right place in this finely sculpted, articulate Meursault. I loved it.
Anticipated maturity: 2014-2014

The 2007 Meursault 1er Cru Les Gouttes d’Or from d’Auvenay is a quite brilliant wine. The bouquet is a showstopper, very intense and delineated, with a Coche-Dury inspired reduction that does not obscure the mineral nature of this wine. The palate is beautifully balanced with electrifying tension, a tangible sense of energy and great precision as it sashays towards its white peach and citrus peel finish. What a crescendo here! Superb. Tasted November 2016.
Anticipated maturity: 2017-2030
Burghound – 91
There remain touches of unabsorbed wood to the mature nose that is composed by notes of petrol, citrus and white orchard fruit scents. The medium weight flavors are extremely rich and concentrated, and particularly so for the vintage, all wrapped in a textured, indeed almost creamy finish that coats the palate with dry extract. While fully mature this exceptionally seductive effort should have no difficulty holding at its peak for years to come.
