Tasting Notes

Savoury nose and generally more earthbound than the 2009 Case Basse. Quite rich and sweet with lightly gamey notes though overall jewelly in composition. Dense and spicy with a good mineral-scented backbone. It opened up in the glass to a sweeter wine than most in this vertical. Great balance and some concentration.
Vinous – 93
My most recent tasting of the 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva revealed a somewhat slender, compact wine by Soldera standards. The 2005 offers lovely overall balance, perfume and freshness, but not quite the visceral thrill that makes Soldera’s finest wines so alluring.
