2005 Domaine Henri Boillot, Volnay Premier Cru, Clos de la Rougeotte 12x75cl

Vinous – 89+

Deep ruby-red. Wild aromas of game, licorice and smoke, with a whiff of roasted grain. Fat, sweet and deep but a bit youthfully aggressive in the middle palate. Best today on the long, sweet finish, where the black fruits emerge and expand. Plenty tannic, though, even a bit youthfully dry. [Stephen Tanzer, 03/01/2008]
