Tasting Notes
Burghound – 93
An exotic and spicy nose features raspberry, red current, anise and clove notes that give way to sweet, classy and notably finely detailed flavors that are also relatively forward early but tighten up considerably on the backend. In most vintages, this is the undisputed class of the cellar and while it may ultimately be so once again, in 2004 it has competition. Still, lovely stuff by any standard.
Jasper Morris – 92
No stems were used this year. The colour is beginning to evolve towards brick red. Fine graceful red fruit perfume, quite floral, some greener notes but nothing aggressive: just the cabernet franc touch often apparent in this vintage. However the texture is agreeably velvety, much more red than green, open and easy to appreciate, and the finish is well balanced with good length. Well judged for the vintage and you can start in now.
