Tasting Notes
Vinous – 89+
Good medium-deep red. Wild berries, meat, leather and mocha on the somewhat reduced nose. Rich and broad but less obviously open and sweet than the Roncieres. Blacker in fruit character, with some complicating herbal nuances but a bit less verve today than the Roncieres. This needs at least two years of patience and at the moment it appears to rely more on its tannins than on its acids for balance.

Deep ruby. Very, very, slightly jammy note on this and then utterly correct fruit with some freshness. Very lively. Full of health. And full of tannin! Still pretty severe. Wait!

Note: from 70+ year old vines. Tasting note: An exuberantly spicy mix of red and black berry fruits nuanced by touches of earth, herb and an interesting gamy quality highlights supple yet precise medium weight flavors that seem relatively approachable then suddenly tighten up on the firm, moderately structured finish and impressively long finish. If this adds weight with bottle age, it should merit the upper end of the range.
