Tasting Notes
Vinous – 92
Saturated, deep red-ruby color. Raspberry, maraschino cherry and tarry oak on the slightly jammy yet vibrant nose, along with a note of underbrush. This boasts a liqueur-like, creamy sweetness, with outstanding density and ripeness. Here’s the ’47 side of the vintage in spades, with just enough acidity to avoid coming off as heavy. Thanks to its extreme ripeness and thickness of texture, this is already approachable. It should last on its sheer phenolic material.
JancisRobinson.com – 18.0
Deep, concentrated crimson. Slight cheesiness. Really fruity and lively and rich. Tannins well hidden. Chewy, but convincing.
Anticipated maturity: 2009-2017
Robert Parker – 95
I was wowed by Grivot’s 2003 Vosne-Romanee Beaux Monts. Sporting a nose of violets, roses, raspberries, and red cherries, it is powerful, mouth-coating, and intense. An expansive, medium to full-bodied, muscular wine of considerable depth, it is dominated by candied red fruit flavors. This harmonious beauty is jam-packed with exquisitely ripe, chewy tannin that will require – and reward – cellaring. Projected maturity: 2010-2019.

Very strongly reduced and I can say nothing about the nose. In curious contrast to the nose, the very firmly structured, edgy and mineral-infused flavors are fresh and bright with mouth coating tannins buffered by plenty of extract. This will require time as this is extremely backward at present.
