Tasting Notes
Vinous – 89-91
Medium-deep red. Deep, slightly high-toned aromas of plum, cinnamon and sweet oak. Lush and fleshy but firm at the core, with firm mineral spine keeping the fruit under wraps. Still tight on the back end, but the tannins are fine and the flavors subtle and persistent.
Burghound – 89-92
Sexy, fine, seductive and long with an explosion of red fruits and quite a bit of new wood but in contrast to the Bonnes Mares, this appears to have the inner density to successfully absorb it. This is very long and extremely rich with approachable, low acid flavors yet with enough structure to suggest that is will positively evolve for 7 to 10 years. My score accords the benefit of the doubt that the wine will absorb what is at the moment an aggressively oaked wine.
