Very dark colour but not much nose. Lots of acidity and a strange lack of weight on the palate. Unforthcoming. Very dry finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2007-2010

First tasted in March 2000: nose is tight but coaxing revealed some pure scents of violet and blackberry nose. The palate has sharp acidity and lacks some weight. Obtrusive tannins, this wine lacks harmony and ripeness. Medium length. Average. Tasted again in November 2003: a lean nose that has not fulfilled its promise: sea salt and rusty girders. Good concentration on the palate though it is a little cloying. Low acidity and structure, somewhat flabby on the finish, compared to the superior Du Tertre or Giscours.

Ruby-red. Reticent aromas of raspberry, roasted coffee, underbrush, animal fur and charred oak. Silky but firm, with lovely ripe acidity and considerable thrust for the year. Finishes with very good length, but in comparison to the 2000 and 2001 the tannins here are a bit more spiky.
