Vinous – 91-94

Saturated full ruby. Reticent, roasted aromas of blackberry and game. Juicy, very intensely flavored and folded in on itself; strong torrefaction note of bitter chocolate. Less fleshy today than the Charmes but still possesses a remarkably silky texture for such a powerful wine. Finishes very subtle and long, with building but ripe tannins. Burghound – 91-93

Blueberry and black cherry fruit with a note of chocolate and licorice. Concentrated, deep and superbly flavorful with a lot more structure than the Charmes yet without the same intensity. Still, it should live longer and it will also require more cellar time to fully open. [01/01/2001]
