Vinous – 85-88

Deep red-ruby color. Vibrant aromas of raspberry and spicy oak. Sappy but a bit aggressive in the mouth; a slightly tougher style of Nuits that makes the Perrieres seem fruity in comparison. Suggestion of drying wood tannins on the finish. [Stephen Tanzer, 03/01/1998]

This medium-to-dark ruby colored wine has black raspberry and powerful toasted oak aromas that give way to an expressive, medium-to-full-bodied, rich, and mineral-dominated flavor profile. This impressive offering’s persistent finish is at present dominated by oak, but it should melt away with cellaring. Drink it between 2000 and 2006.
