Tasting Notes
Burghound – 89
While there is a trace of rot present on the fully mature nose there is also fine complexity present on the fully secondary (but no tertiary) aromas of earth, spice and slightly sauvage scents. There is good richness and punch to the medium weight flavors that are very much in the Taupenot style of the ’80s and ’90s, all wrapped in an equally complex, delicious and lingering finish. As is the case with many ’83s today there are still some residual tannins in evidence that will probably always be there and detract mildly from the balance. That said, this is still an attractive effort that is presently drinking as well as it’s ever going to.
